Top Plants For Bedroom

Add some botanical magic to your bedroom with plants, potted succulents and trailing foliage. Plants are a great solution for those hard-to-style corners, instantly adding texture, shape and pattern.

As you create your own indoor jungle, the online houseplant experts Leaf Envy have shared some creative plant styling tips for the bedroom, as well as which plants are the best to opt for.

'Snoozing, chilling, reading, writing – whatever it might be, we spend a lot of time in our bedrooms, so it's important to make them feel like a relaxing and tranquil environment to be in,' say Leaf Envy. 'Using indoor plants in your bedroom is one way that you can bring vibrancy and nature into your relaxation zone.'

Take a look at their advice below...

1. Style around your bed

Add lush tropical foliage to your bedroom with a selection of gorgeous plants, such as Calathea Orbifolia or the Kentia Palm. As well as cleaning the air and increasing oxygen levels for a restful night's sleep, they will instantly energise your space.

'Your bed is likely to be the centrepiece of your bedroom and can easily be freshened up by surrounding it with plants so you can wake up next to them each day,' says Beth Chapman, founder of Leaf Envy. 'Not only will clustering plants around your bed bring focus to this part of your room, but they'll also purify the air around you.'

2. Don't forget hanging plants

Hanging plants are perfect for the bedroom, so why not get creative by playing around with trailing varieties such as the Golden Pothos? If you don't have anywhere to hang them, Beth advises to create a plant shelf either over your bed frame or on a side wall. Equally as beautiful, we couldn't imagine anything better than waking up to a pretty display of greenery.

'There are a lot to choose from so why not mix up some trailing plants and get creative with where you place them,' adds Beth. 'We recommend pairing trailing plants with other tall standing plants on a shelf to create variations in height, leaf texture and shape.'

3. Let the light in

Many plants thrive in light environments, so place them close to a window. Depending on the size of your windowsill, choose plants which like direct to indirect light — such as Cacti and Chinese Money Plants. If you only have a small space, smaller cacti and succulents will work just as well.

4. Make a statement

If space allows, larger plants are a great way to make a powerful statement in your bedroom. Some head-turning species to opt for include the large Kentia Palm, Monstera Deliciosa, Bird of Paradise or Fiddle Leaf Fig, paired with a chic planter.

As well adding a focal point to your room, these are a great way to add intrigue — especially if you prefer a more minimal feel.
